Device encryption is available on supported devices running any Windows 10 edition. If you want to use standard BitLocker encryption instead, it’s available on supported devices running Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, or Education.
Some devices have both types of encryption. For example, a Surface Pro which runs Windows 10 Pro has both the simplified device encryption experience, and the full BitLocker management controls.
Not sure which version of Windows you have? See Which Windows operating system am I running? In the search box on the taskbar, type System Information , right-click System Information in the list of results, then select Run as administrator.
If the value says Meets prerequisites , then device encryption is available on your device. If it isn’t available, you may be able to use standard BitLocker encryption instead. After Microsoft revoked the first release of build ISO Image due to problems with overwriting security settings, stuck installation processes with SD-Cards etc. Don’t know what happened “behind the curtains” with the Win10 TH2 release but from the perspective of an end user everything looks quite confusing. Features come and go, settings are overwritten while upgrading, installed software becomes inactive – not really a thrustworthy environment.
But now everything looks fine and stable on my tablet – thanks everyone for helping out on this! Threats include any threat of suicide, violence, or harm to another.

I know that BitLocker is typically a feature of the Windows 10 Pro edition but it was activated for tablet Computers in Windows 8.
Am I missing something or is this just an phenomena on my Encore tablet? Any hint is highly appreciated!
