On checkout it showed the product was used but it was new but it had something cut off the box but the Product code was inside and it looked as though the factory seal was never tampered with. I’ve used many versions of True Image Backup and never liked the interface but it’s a good product maybe the best. They keep making meaningless changes to the User Interface that just make you relearn how to set it up and use it.
I bought it only because I need it for Windows I still have TI for Windows 7. It looses a star for the User Interface. It’s possible I might have been able to keep using version on Windows 10 doing the backup in Windows 7 dual boot but I did not want to take a chance and the price was better than the latest version.
I would say it’s a trusted seller as well though I don’t know what was cut off the box bar code maybe It’s NOT a “two click” backup and restore as the description says, You have to set some parameters like a backup location and give it a name, chose if you want to do automatic backups, one time, full, incremental etc etc and THAT’S the part they keep changing so you have to find where they moved it to. It’s still the best that’s available today in my opinion after 20 years of doing backups.

The Amazon image is deceiving. You don’t get a box. You get an optical disc taped in an official Acronis sleeve with the product ‘short-key’ on the back. I recommend you login to your acronis. From there, download the latest build of Acronis and don’t bother using the included disc.
This product does need Internet for activation, and can be installed on 3 different computers at once. Thankfully, Acronis makes it easy to deactivate as well so you can move between computers if you upgrade something or need it on a different computer when all your activations are used up.
As for the software itself, it works well. It is the full version of the Acronis backup software that is distributed on many hard drive manufacture websites. With this version you can schedule backups at various intervals, and restore either the whole image or particular files in the same or different locations you desire.
If you don’t need advanced cloud features or other interconnected tools, you really don’t need the ‘latest and greatest’ version. This does what you need it to, so getting this version saves you some money. If you decide later that you do want the latest and greatest, Acronis offers an upgrade discount for the latest version.
Get I have used Acronis backup before; the last version was , which worked great. I had hoped that this version would be as good. Such as their Cloud service, which you can pay additional money for.
I like Blue-Ray backup because it doesn’t take a lot of disks and I control the location of the backup. Sensitive files can go in my safe. But, although this advertises it will work with external drives, the fact is that it does not.
Moreover, when I contacted their rather mediocre technical support, they pretty much admitted it. Their suggestion was to back up my hard drive to my hard drive and then manually copy to the Blue-Ray disk. Or, I could backup to their Cloud service and then manually copy to my Blue-Ray. Then, to recover files, I would perform the process in reverse: copy from my Blue-Ray to their Cloud and restore from the Cloud. The second concern is that this is an incredibly intrusive program. When running Task Manager, I found no less than 6 background processes running all the time for Acronis.
I do not know what they are all doing, but they seem to be communicating over my WiFi. Moreover, there are some that show up in my TaskBar. And, they cannot be removed from the TaskBar. What I wanted was a simple backup system. I run it. It compresses and writes files to my Blue-Ray, and then it goes away. This is something else entirely. Unfortunately, Acronis has ruined what had been a reasonable product.
They allowed me to “downgrade” to True Image That version does just what I want it to, and has much less “intrusiveness”. The Task Bar item is gone, for example. It still has a couple of background processes, but these allow full cloning of your hard drive.
So, I have upgraded my assessment to 4 stars. Verified Purchase. Yes, this is just an activation key. It has instructions for installing the software from the site but it sent you to the free download for the version. Save some time and navigate their website to find the free download for the version.
